FINE GEMS OUR SPECIALTY.Having access to a gem cutter is an unusal opportunity. One may design a piece around a stone that no one would be able to obtain from local sources. We specialize in the finest of the 4 C's COLOR, CUT, CLARITY, and rare sizes as in CARATS. So there is no confusion Carat denotes weight in gem stones. There are 5 carats to a gram and 100 points to a carat. Karat denotes the content of pure gold in jewelry for example 24kg being 24parts pure gold ( kg=karat gold)
We offer the finest of Blue, yellow, yellow orange, and pink sapphires, emeralds, diamonds, tanzanite, and all semi-precious stones.
COLOR...
Color is one of the most important qualities in choosing a stone. Most of the general public are subjected to a commercial quality of gems with poor to medium shades of hues found in the stone, one sees in typical mall type jewelry stores. We have been to mines and cutters the world over searching for the best in colors that are fine and rare. We now offer these to you. Some gem merchants sell treated stones. When possible we do not sell treated and will let you know with full disclosure if they are and the type of treatment. A most important service offered is an in house cutting facility. This allows beautiful one of a kind pieces to me made. Imagine you can really create what you wish with fine gems.
Color for diamonds is graded by, D, E, F, being colorless, G, H, I, being near colorless. These are the only colors we sell unless one is looking for a fancy color as in yellow, pink, or blue.
CUT
The second of the 4 C's will determine the amount of light in the form of sparkle or scintillation the technical term for sparkle. We sell perfect to near perfect MAKE on our gems. Make is a term to denote the proportions of the facets, girdle thickness, polish quality, & symmetry. especially in the case of diamonds. When a stone is cut disproportional it can be very large looking from the top but it is shallow or it can look small from the top but be very deep in cut. Either of these kinds of cuts will leave the stone lifeless in the amount of scintillation. When the stone is cut to correct proportions and has good clarity you will have the optimum combination to give the stone great scintillation. We have dedicated a page just for diamonds to give you an extensive education to allow you the ability to buy with confidence from any source. Knowledge is power!
CLARITY
The third of the 4 C's will also determine the depth of color and scintillation. Flaws in gems are called inclusions. When it comes to clarity the value of a gem is determined by the amount of inclusions contained within the stone. In most instances the the least amount of inclusions the higher the value. One example of a higher value due to an inclusion was a diamond that had a perfectly formed garnet crystal in it. We offer eye clean, or clean to the naked eye to flawless gems. Diamond clarity is denoted by, IF, as internally flawless, V V S1 very very slightly flawed and V V S2 very very slightly flawed, V S1 & 2 very slightly flawed, SI 1 slightly flawed. There are more but we do not sell below this quality. A ture SI 1 clarity is not visible to the naked eye. Any lower clarity and one could then see the inclusions.
CARAT
The last of the 4 C's has to do with the weight of the stone. The importance here is that fine gems often offered at certain sizes that are common to find for that type of gem stone, increase in value due to harder to find larger weights and sizes..
